Produced by the Smeezingtons , its composition began during a Smeezingtons freestyle studio session; when progress on the song stalled, Aaron Bay-Shuck considered it a potential hit and asked them to finish it. After the song was finished, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa were added. Some critics praised Mars's pop-nostalgia chorus and Snoop Dogg's rap but criticized Wiz Khalifa's rap performance due to being too rough. It was commercially successful, reaching the top ten in several markets including number seven on the Billboard Hot and number six in France and Switzerland ; it peaked at number two in New Zealand and number four in Australia. Its accompanying music video, filmed in Montclair, California in October , was directed by Dylan Brown. If you want to go against that trend, one of you will almost certainly change perspective. His job prevents you much access to him. And on my part, I felt I needed to go out and live harder, party more, be more social, etc. It certainly isn't easy. But I have no idea how much of his lack of contact is actually due to him being busy or if that's just an excuse to not commit. Find some small proxy act of affection that can be done regularly to say that he cares about you, and that can be kept sacred as a stand-in for everything else that's missed.
